Venkat drives technological advancements and product development at Forus Health. With over 30 years of experience across avionics, automation, digital broadcasting, semiconductors, medical devices, and cloud services, he has held key technical roles at Philips and NXP Semiconductor.
Venkat holds an M.Tech in Software Engineering from BITS Pilani and a B.E. in Computer Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University. He holds four granted patents (with four more pending) and has multiple technical publications in international journals and conferences. With extensive experience in developing many first-of-their-kind initiatives over three decades, Venkat led the development of the world’s first affordable ophthalmic fundus camera, now installed in 3,000+ locations across 35+ countries.
His innovations include AI-powered tools for diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and dry eye detection, as well as a comprehensive Digital Health SaaS Platform implemented in 115 Community Health Centers in Andhra Pradesh. This initiative enabled 3.5 million eye screenings in four years, in addition to 1 million screenings at corporate and vision centers.
Venkat spearheaded the world’s first wireless wearable digital subjective refractor, 3nethra specto, and led the creation of 3nethra neoHD, an advanced pediatric retinal imaging camera. He also played a key role in developing 3nethra pico, a portable handheld retinal and anterior imaging system.
Venkat’s willingness to experiment and take risks in developing breakthrough technologies has transformed healthcare accessibility globally. His contributions continue to shape the future of healthcare technology, ensuring that Forus Health remains at the forefront of innovation in eye care.
